Module 1: Barrel and Tasmanian Tourist Attraction
Module 1:
This task allowed us to learn about modelling and get used to using the program 'Blender'.
I am relatively new to Blender, so I used the following tutorials for my barrel.
Creating a Stylized Barrel in Blender 2.8 Part 1: Modeling [Beginner]:
During this series of tutorials, I tried to follow along, and for the most part, I was successful. However, After trying three times and not being happy with the results, I moved on to the following tutorial. I linked this one cause I used some of the technics I learned from this series, so I recommend watching this version as it brakes down each step quite well. I am just limited to a mouse for this week.
One of the main issues I had was the UV editing with two objects and baking in shading not working right when I attempted them. After my third restart, I moved on to the other tutorial.
Blender 2.8 How to Create a Wooden Barrel:
This one doesn't go into too much depth as the other walkthrough; however, it does showcase a different and, in my option, easier way to create a barrel. This type is a lot more game-like than the stylized one, which touches on some realism.
The result is:
Overall, I have learned much about Blender and the art of saving at critical times, and I am happy with the game-like outcome. Sure it isn't the realistic version I went into this task wanting to complete, but as Donkey from Shrek would say, "it is a nice barrel. I like that barrel".
The second part of this task was to pick a Tasmania Tourist attraction to model. I chose to do Port Arthur with its rich history; I thought this would be an excellent task to model.

My Model:
My approach to this was to use the Extra Mesh to create the outline of the structure and then to try my best to match the ruin look as best I could. It's by no means perfect, as I did this by eye, so everything might not be a 1x1 ratio.
Overall I am happy with the look. If given more time, I would try and make the scale as close to perfect as possible might have even looked at the inside or surrounding areas. I would also add texture paint to the model, which I will probably do in my spare time.
